Olena V. Slyvna graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute in specialty Geological Survey, Prospecting and Exploration of Mineral Deposits and received a diploma with honors of mining engineer-geologist. From 1989 to 1991 she worked as a trainee researcher, and then as Research Assistant of the

Problem Research Laboratory at the Mining Institute in the sector of synthetic diamonds.

Since 1991 - postgraduate student of Mineralogy and Petrography Department of Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute.

Since 1993 - an assistant of the Department of Mineralogy and Petrography.

In 2016, she defended Ph.D thesis for the degree of Candidate of Geological Sciences (Ph.D Geol.) on the theme «Patterns of distribution and material composition of written pegmatites of the Yeliseevsky field (Western Azov, Ukrainian shield) «Scientific adviser - Professor M. Ruzina.

Since 2018 - Associate Professor at the Department of Geology and Mineral Prospecting,. She teaches disciplines: "Petrography", "Lithology", "Laboratory methods for the study of minerals and rocks", "Economic Geology", supervises course and degree design. She has 26 scientific papers. Olena V. Slyvna participates in research work on the study of the composition and structure of crystalline rocks of the Ukrainian shield and metal and non-metallic deposits. The main directions of research are thermobarogeochemistry, petrology, gemology, geology of iron ore formations and gold deposits.
